Vocations
Clergy Formation

The formation of the CCA accepts, trains, forms and ordains those Christian men and women regardless of marital status or
sexual orientation.  It is a program designed for those who are called by God's Spirit to a particular, formal, permanent
ministry in Christ's Church as a priest or deacon.
Steps Preceding Ordination

1.  Discern your vocation
2.  Inquire about the CCA
3.  Complete and submit application and supporting documents
4.  Complete required education courses
5.  Strengthen your spiritual life by beginning spiritual direction
6.  Organize a small faith community and preside over weekly prayer/Bible study
Educational Requirements

The CCA gives credit for prior course work.  Course work can be done, however, through external studies
arranged by the vocation director, i.e., home study courses.

Required courses for ordination include:

1.  Systematic Theology                                                5.  Christian Ethics
2.  Church History                                                         6.  Pastoral Counseling
3.  Old Testament                                                          7. Sacraments
4.  New Testament
A candidate may challenge the required courses by taking the Genderal Examination Leading To Ordination (GELO).  This
is a very extensive exam which demonstrates proficiency in the above courses.  It is up to each diocesan bishop to decide
adequate formation leading to ordination.

To begin formation, you need to be a fully initiated Christian (Baptized, Chrismated and received First Eucharist) and be at
least 25 years of age by the date of ordination.
