The primary MISSION of the
band is to play for the liturgy.
An added mission is to bring the
ecumenical news to our brothers
and sisters wherever they may
be.

The band director is Adalberto Da Paixao who is a former Franciscan Capuchin priest from Minas
Gerais, Brazil, who once went to the Cape Verdean Association in Brockton looking to help out in
some way. Bishop Teixeira welcomed him into the parish and soon the band was born. Mr. De
Paixao is truly a Franciscan "brother."
The Messengers of Peace Band was born on June 20, 2004. It was blessed at the parish's
solemn feast of St. John the Baptist. The type of music that the band plays is religious music as
well as all other types of music.
